There were so many great choices for dining in Chicago, but we heard 312 Chicago was really good and it was attached to our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. I’ve eaten a lot of good food, but at the moment I finished savoring the butternut squash tortellini, I felt like I’d never eat a meal that was so utterly perfect again.
The service was excellent and the wait staff was very helpful. We began the meal with Buffalo Mozzarella wrapped in Prosciutto with grilled asparagus and a very nice selection of breads and tapenade. The Butternut Squash Tortellini was perfection, right down to the sage leaves. (The tortellini is sweet and almost dessert-like. If you prefer something more savory, you may want to try a different dish, but we both really loved our meal.) We finished the meal with Banana Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding, Caramel Sauce and Butter Pecan Gelato. Again, it was perfection.
If you are looking for innovative and exceptional Italian cuisine in Illinois, I’d suggest you take a look at 312 Chicago’s menu. Right now, the butternut squash dish seems to have been replaced with a more spring-like ricotta and spring pea tortellini and beefsteak tomatoes have replaced the grilled asparagus, so it looks like the chef uses seasonal foods as inspiration for the menu.
